Who is Diane Layton?

Diane Layton grew up in New Jersey. After receiving her BA from Drew University, she went to work on Wall Street, following in the footsteps of her father and grandfather. Starting as the assistant to a broker who traded stocks and commodities for personal portfolios, she then moved to the sales team of a bond desk. From there Diane apprenticed as a Eurodollar broker, which she did for a few years in the twin towers at the World Trade Center. When her brother needed a clerk for his book on the NY Cotton Exchange, she worked with him, and eventually became a floorbroker.

Enjoying working with people, she took her knowledge and experience and become certified as a financial planner. For about ten years, she sat with folks around their kitchen tables, assessed their financial health and helped them make plans for their futures.

During this time, she met and married Joe, a chemical engineer. They had two wonderful girls, who, after college, entered the fields of Communications/Public Relations and Public Health and Wellness.

Anticipating retirement, they were happy to move north to the quiet town of Amherst. That was six years ago.

As soon as Diane got settled, she joined the Amherst Republican Committee, eventually becoming the Vice Chair. She started up and serves as editor of “Common Sense,” a monthly newsletter. The Souhegan Valley chapter of the Federation of Republican Women voted Diane to be their Treasurer, a position she has held for the past three years. Diane has also served on the Amherst Town Ways & Means Committee for the past three years.

Diane is ready to serve all the residents of Amherst as your State Rep.
